Program Director / Coach
This season marks Linda’s fourteenth year coaching Michigan State University Pompon. She has been directly involved with the sport of pompon for twenty years, including four-year member and captain of her high school team, two-year member of the Mid American Pompon All Star Team, Sparkle & Shine Award recipient, and MAPP Scholarship winner. Following high school, Linda was selected to join the Mid American Pompon Staff where she served as a summer camp instructor and Co-Director of the nationally recognized All Star Team. Linda also worked for Mid American Studio as an instructor and Director of Day Camps & Special Events. Linda has been hired to judge pompon / dance competitions and tryouts throughout the state, as well
as hosts many private team training sessions for a variety of programs. Linda earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Michigan State University in 2005. In addition to coaching, Linda works for Michigan State University as Marketing Brand Manager for Residential Education and Housing Services.
Danielle Cowper Kurajian
This season will be Danielle’s sixth year coaching Michigan State University Pompon. Danielle has been an active member of the pompon world since 2005. She was a three-year member and captain of her high school team, as well as a two-year member of the Mid American Pompon All Star Team. After high school, Danielle became a member of the Mid American Pompon Staff where she was an instructor and judging coordinator for all MAPP summer camps and regional competitions. This judging training has given Danielle many opportunities to judge competitions and tryouts at the middle school and high school level throughout the state. Danielle was also a member of the MSU Pompon team for three years. During her time on the team she also held an executive board position as Treasurer, for two years. Danielle received her Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State in 2013 in Child Development. In addition to coaching, Danielle teaches at Dolsen Elementary in South Lyon, MI and is an instructor at The Barre Code. Danielle lives in Sylvan Lake with her husband, Phil.
The program is thrilled to welcome Lauren to the coaching staff for her first season! Lauren has been involved in the sport of pom for more than twelve years through active team membership, Mid American Pompon Staff, and coaching high school pompon. Lauren starting her pom career in middle school, served as captain of her varsity high school team three out of four years, and was selected as a Mid American Pompon All Star. During her first year of college, Lauren joined Saginaw Valley State University’s Pompon team, while simultaneously coaching a junior varsity high school pompon team. The following spring, Lauren joined the Mid-American Pompon Staff where she mentored high school aged women in the sport of pompon for three years. Lauren then returned to coach a high school varsity program for two years while finishing her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary History Education from Saginaw Valley State University. Upon graduation in 2016, Lauren moved to the Lansing area for a teaching position. Currently, Lauren is a high school Economics, Government, and Geography teacher at Lansing Catholic High School.
